ELK GROVE, CALIFORNIA (October 8, 2015) – Team Micro Sprint wrapped up its 2015 points season at Delta Speedway in a big way on Saturday with Brandon Carey winning the Non-Wing feature and John Bordenave finishing second in points season in Super 600.
The team was in action with heavy hearts as their team patriarch Ron Singh was unable to compete due to medical problems. Singh was released from the hospital Saturday morning after complications from chest pain but the #27 Rose Singh Motorsports Pace will be piloted by Brandon Carey in the Turkey Bowl on October 23-24.
Carey’s Non-Wing win came against yet another strong field with 25 entries for Saturday’s 12th round of competition at the 1/7th mile dirt oval in Stockton. Carey started on the pole for the 30 lap feature and had an exciting start to the race battling with Blake McGourty. After several crossover attempts, Carey took command of the race on lap three.
Although the race had numerous stoppages, Carey had no problem driving away for a 1.637 second win. Micro Sprint Mart also entered John Modderman for the Non-Wing competition and he advanced through the semi. Moddernan worked his way up to 18th in the feature before getting collected in a crash in turn four to end his night.
Bordenave nearly won the 2015 Super 600 track championship if not for unfortunate mechanical problems throughout the summer. Bordenave qualified sixth and started the main out of position nine. He was shuffled back to 11th on the opening lap before setting forth on a great charge through the pack to ultimately finish seventh.
Seventh was good enough for second in the points only 15 markers behind champion Kaleb Montgomery. Despite missing the race Ron Singh was able to finish sixth in the track points as well. A nice tip of the hat is due for Mike Rich who drove for Micro Sprint Mart in the Super 600s in September. Rich ran fifth in Saturday’s feature back in his own yellow #5 car.
Jackson Kohler is the youngest member of Team Micro Sprint Mart and ended his points run in the Jr. Sprints on Saturday as well. Jr. Sprints had one of their largest car counts of the season with 14 entries. Kohler was 11th quickest in hot laps and was unable to compete in the 20 lap feature. He ended the year seventh in the points standings in a great effort for the young driver!
Delta Speedway and Team Micro Sprint Mart have all hands on deck for the Turkey Bowl October 23-24.
