PETERSEN MEDIA– Saturday night in Petaluma, CA Sean Becker teamed back up with Monhoff Motorsports for the Adobe Cup where he overcame a bad redraw to finish in the second spot.
“I still continue to have the world’s worst luck during redraws, but luckily Dan Monhoff gave me a great car on a really fast Petaluma Speedway surface,” Sean Becker said.
Timing the Monhoff Motorsports No. 35 machine in second fastest, “The Shark” would race his way to a third place finish during his heat race and qualify for the night’s redraw to determine his starting position for the night’s feature event.
As luck would have it, Becker would find himself holding the eight pill, putting him in the fourth row on what was an extremely hooked up Petaluma Speedway racing surface.
Battling against some stiff competition, Becker was able to make the highside work to his advantage, as he was able to forge his way to the front ever so cautiously. Passing some of the best that the Petaluma Speedway has to offer, Becker would find himself in the second spot and chasing after Colby Copeland.
Looking to grab another win with Dan Monhoff, Becker let it all hang out as he pulled up to Copeland’s rear nerf bar. Trying everything he could to get around him, Becker would actually pull alongside the leader on the backstretch, and bring the crowd to their feet.
With the bottom of the speedway still greasy, Becker would have to follow Copeland through the final set of corners, and ended up finishing in the second spot by .280 seconds.
“It has been such a fun season racing with Dan Monhoff again, and I can’t thank him enough for all of his hard work to get this thing so fast every night out,” Becker said. “I thought we had something for Copeland on the last lap, but I didn’t want to get into the grease and take both of us out, so I settled for the runner up spot.”
Becker would like to thank Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Cherry Street Mini Storage, Menne Ranch Hay Inc., Astro Titanium, Ponybracket.com, Hunt’s Race World, Molecule, Shaver Racing Engines, FK Rod Ends, and K&N for their support in 2015.
