NEW CASTLE, Ind.—October 14, 2015— Mother Nature interrupted the originally scheduled Fall Nationals for Tracy Hines and his fellow Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series competitors earlier this month at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Indiana. After rain and inclement weather pushed the event back a couple of weeks, the final race in the Midwest in 2015 for the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series will commence this weekend.
The Fall Nationals at Lawrenceburg Speedway for the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series is set for Saturday, October 17. A full racing program is in store, with a 30-lap, $10,000-to-win main event capping off the evening. A bonus is also being offered for fast time in qualifying and to the Hard Charger in the A-Feature.
“It’s going to be a bittersweet night at Lawrenceburg, with it being our last race in Indiana as a full-time USAC competitor,” said Hines. “I’ve had the good fortune to win quite a few races in Indiana over the years, both on the dirt and pavement. The fans are second to none in Indiana and have been great supporters over the years and I can’t thank them enough for that.”
Hines has raced three times at Lawrenceburg Speedway in 2015. He finished eighth with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series in April. During the Indiana Midget Week event in June for the Honda USAC National Midget Series, Hines suffered a broken collarbone that required surgery and put him on the sideline for a few weeks, after getting upside down. During the Indiana Sprint Week event in July at Lawrenceburg, Hines got upside down again, this time suffering a broken rib, which kept him out of action for a couple of more weeks.
Hines, who hails from New Castle, Indiana, has one career USAC national win in his career at Lawrenceburg Speedway, with that coming with the Honda USAC National Midget Series in 2010.
“Lawrenceburg has certainly been a challenge for me this year,” noted Hines. “I’m glad we get one more shot over there this year and can put the last couple of trips behind us. Lawrenceburg is always fast and in the fall with cooler weather, we’ll be putting some serious horsepower out. The key is always getting that power to the ground and the car to hook up.”
Last weekend, Hines made his sixth winged sprint car start this season, competing with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions in the Sprintacular event at the famed Eldora Speedway in Ohio. With a stout 42-car field in attendance, the veteran driver timed in 27th-fastest. Hines ran sixth in his heat race, just missing transferring to the main event by a couple of positions. He wrapped up the night by finishing ninth in the B-main.
Hines enters competition this weekend ninth in the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series standings. He has 19 top-10 finishes, with eight of those being top-five performances. A total of seven nights of racing remains on the 2015 Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series calendar.
